DVD Review - Dr Who - Invasion of Time/Bred For War

INVASION of Time' sees the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) return to his home planet of Gallifrey to claim the Presidency of the High Council of Time Lords. In a series of out-of-character moves, he expels many officials and even companion Leela (Louise Jameson) to the wastes of Outer Gallifrey. Sonce he is behaving totally out of character, it appears that The Doctor has succumbed to the dark side of his nature.

This story is the last one in which Leela appeared as she fell in love and opted to stay on Gallifrey - also keeping K9.

The 2 disc set features the original 6 part story as shown in 1978 along with some intriguing extras such as how the portrayal of the Time Lords and Gallifrey has changed over the years.

With The Sontarans appearing in the latest series of the show, the BBC have issued Bred For War'.

This specially packaged 6 disc collection gathers together all 4 classic Who adventures featuring this warrior race.

The stories included are: The Two Doctors' (The Second and Sixth Doctors - Patrick Troughton and Colin Baker), The Sontaran Experiment' and The Invasion of Time' (The Fourth Doctor - Tom Baker), and Time Warrior' (The Third Doctor - Jon Pertwee).

At under 40 quid for over 7 hours of classic Who, it's a bargain.
