A TEAM of doctors from the Royal Bolton Hospital who got through to the semi-final of a spin off of University Challenge have been knocked out of the show.
The surgeons beat a team of barristers in last month's show by 190-165 but narrowly missed out on a place in the final after being beaten by National Physical Laboratory 180-145 last night.
Team captain and consultant orthopaedic surgeon Gordon Shepard said: "We're absolutely delighted that we made it to the final four of the 400-plus teams who entered the competition."
The team was also made up of consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Philip Wykes, consultant anaesthetist, Nick Smith, and consultant general surgeon, Hamis Michie.
