STUDENT days often consisted of hauling myself out of bed early to catch the late morning showing of Neighbours which, after 23 years, has just switched to Channel Five after the BBC wisely lost a bidding war for the incredibly still popular Aussie soap.
I thought I'd give it a whirl and catch up with the adventures of Kylie, Jason and Bouncer the dog. Unfortunately, they're not living in Ramsay Street anymore, having made shed loads of cash from singing and acting, and, in Bouncer's case, presumably moved to that doggie graveyard in the sky.
Shockingly though, Harold Bishop (Ian Smith), who once lost several years of his life to a dream, and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), who abandoned his attempt at a pop career and serious acting to return to the soap, still are - and they're still more wooden than the average rocking horse.

The newer characters are young, good looking and vibrant - then they live in sunny Australia - but could not act their way out of a kangaroo's pouch.
Anyway, someone was struggling at school and another kid was operating an internet scam, but generally all was still quiet in leafy Erinsburgh. If you must watch Aussie soaps, I'd stick to Home and Away.
