He was one of the most eligible bachelors in television history and a mainstay of Friday night programming from 1969 through to the mid 70's.
James Hadleigh, played by Gerald Harper, is a Yorkshire country squire who also owns the Westdale Gazette. But, unlike many of the upper crust, he is intelligent and a champion of the underdog. He uses his wealth and status - not to mention his boundless energy to help rather than keep it all to himself. This puts him in contact with the more unsavoury aspects of life; a challenge for which he is most definitely up for.
These two sets cover the first two series of the show, broadcast by Yorkshire TV, and goes right back to the very beginning - in black and white. There are 26 uncut episodes contained in the two sets - equal to half the complete series.
