A CLUB for people who want to improve their public speaking has joined a national association.
Bolton and District Speakers' Club, which aims to develop confidence and improve skills to make public speaking fun, has joined the Association of Speakers' Clubs.
The club and its 15 members joins 120 other organisations which form the association. Club president, Yusuf Pate, said: "Joining the association will offer us solid support and structure.
"We were accepted once we proved we were a serious group which was going to stay.
"They looked at our current structure and the enthusiasm of our members."
Membership of the Bolton group costs £45 per year which includes a self-help manual, a place at the group's 17 meetings, and support for any speech a member is planning to make.
Club meetings are held on alternate Mondays, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at the Friends Meeting House, Silverwell Street, Bolton.
