STAFF from a Bolton nursing company are taking part in this year's Cancer Research Race for Life in Manchester.

Volunteers from the Bolton branch of Claimar Care Ltd will be taking part in the 5km event to be held at Heaton Park, Manchester, on Saturday, May 31.

Branch manager, Jo Jordan, will be running to honour the courage of her father.

She said: "My dad is in recovery from non-Hodgkinsons lymphoma and I can't think of a better way of giving thanks for his recovery than by supporting the research that helps so many people like my dad."

Helping Jo to set the pace are fellow workers Kerri Doyle and Christine Hall.

With sponsorship from family, friends and Claimar colleagues, the ladies hope to raise as much money as possible for the charity that is so close to Jo's heart.

To date, 3.4 million women have raised over £200million for Cancer Research UK. Race for Life events are held on different days across the UK.

In Bolton, a total of 4,000 women are expected to take part in the two Race for Life events to be held at Leverhulme Park on July 20. The first race will start at 11am and the second at 2pm.

It will be the sixth Bolton Race For Life. Last year the two races raised £160,000. Organisers hope to raise £228,000 this year.
