WILLIAM Shakespeare returns for a fifth season to Turton Tower tomorrow when Lancashire-based Dean Taylor Professional Productions stages public performances of William Shakespeare’s The Merchant Of Venice in the gardens of the Tower.
“The setting could not be more opposite for staging outdoor Shakespeare,” said producer and director Dean Taylor whose company entertained large numbers last summer with its version of The Taming Of The Shrew.
The Merchant Of Venice is a romantic-drama set in Italy and is a play famous for Shylock, the money-lender’s pound of flesh and the beautiful Portia’s “quality of mercy” speech.
The show will take place tomorrow at 2pm and 7pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday 2pm. Tickets cost £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £12 for children. To book, ring 01772 466256.
