BILL Bailey has attracted millions of fans with his meandering thoughts on everything from Darwin to Kraftwerk.

This week he returns to The Lowry with his new show, based on the story of Alfred Russel Wallace, who also discovered the theory of evolution but was just pipped to the post by the upstart Charles Darwin.

Bill started his performing career as a member of his school band, Behind Closed Doors, before forming the rock quartet The Famous Five. Despite being a trained musician, he spent much of his time listening to Monty Python records.

His stand-up career started in the mid-eighties when he formed a double act, The Rubber Bishops. It wasn’t until 1995 and Bill Bailey’s Cosmic Jam, that success finally beckoned.

As well as his stand up shows, Bailey is well known for his television appearances on shows including QI, Black Books, Spaced and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

He will appear at The Lowry from Tuesday until Sunday. A few tickets are still available. Visit thelowry.com to book online or ring 0870 787 5780.
