New York Fashion Week kicked off with a bang on Friday with a host of celebrities including Hilary Duff, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Brittany Snow and Amanda Bynes taking to the runway for the annual Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection show.

Top designers contributed dresses for the event, which hopes to highlight awareness of heart disease, including Vera Wang, Marchesa, Jenny Packham, Max Azria and Donna Karan.

Hilary, who has recently signed up to create a collection for DKNY, wore Donna Karan. The floor length red dress had a plunging neckline and combined a halter neck straps with a v-neck to give it a unique outline.

Hilary's hair was swept back, to highlight the shoulder detail of the dress, and she accessorised with drop earrings with black and orange stones.

Amanda flashed her pins in a satin, corseted mini dress with sweetheart neckline. The tulip skirt gave her a lovely shape.

The Daniel Swarovski dress was accessorised with a long, knotted snake belt, over sized bracelet and platform heels.

The standout dress of the collection was worn by Vivica Fox. British designer Jenny Packham's red sequined gown looked amazing, with a scoop neck and thigh high split. The sequins thinned out into vertical lines towards the hem of the dress.

It was worn with a silver cuff and rings and gorgeous drop earrings.
