Women went weak at the knees last Thursday as Selfridges in The Trafford Centre unveiled its autumn/winter collection in a champagne fuelled frenzy for biker boots and body con dresses.

We thought we had seen the last of Herve Leger’s ‘It’ dress of 2009, but no, it’s back for winter and it’s sexy as hell.

Plunging neck-line, bright red and clingy as ever you’ll look knock-out in this number. Coming in at £995, if you’ve got a spare grand lying around — why not?

Next up were the sequins, which tumbled out in the form of a blue mini dress from Paul & Joe at £395, a ‘to-die-for’ Matthew Williamson at £1,995 and this silver hoodie from Joseph at £450 (you won’t see the thugs wearing this beauty). Team with metallic leggings from Kova & T at £115 and chunky biker boots to give it that edge.

Next up were prints. This long sleeved black bell dress from Issa will set you back £485 but it is the shape of things to come. The splash of pattern is set against floaty sleeves and thigh skimming hems — heavy patent boots from Carvela at Kurt Geiger at £170 toughen up the look.

Last but not least was biker chic with this jacket from Whistles at £350 and studded gloves from Zadig and Voltaire at £70. No one is going to mess with you.

On the same night, The Trafford Centre was a hot bed of fashion as urban street style was mixed with glamour at the Denim and Diamonds fashion show in the Great Hall. The VIP event, to raise money for the New Children’s Hospital Appeal in Manchester, kicked off with a champagne reception.

Guests were treated to the autumn/winter collections from stores such as Karen Millen, DKNY Jeans, Selfridges, Calvin Klein Jeans and Vivienne Westwood.

Musicians The Red Hot Strings performed live and members of the Dance Art Productions got fashionistas out of their seats and onto the floor. Now that’s what I call fashion ‘night’ fever.
