FANS of legendary American rockers R.E.M. can enjoy the band's hits in Breightmet on Saturday night.
Stipe will be at Henighans, Bury Road, from 9pm playing tracks from the group's extensive back catalogue including Shiny Happy People and Everybody Hurts.
An early R.E.M. album loaned to Stipe’s lead vocalist, Richard Southern, worked its magic and convinced him to make his first visit to see the band — fronted by Michael Stipe.
Richard said: "That was the best live performance, ever."
R.E.M. was formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 by singer Michael, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, one of the first popular alternative rock bands. They decided to call it a day in 2011, after 31 years and 15 albums.
Stipe has built up an enviable reputation as an authentic and entertaining tribute, playing all over the UK with regular visits to Ireland and also Europe including Malta, Italy and Sicily.
Stipe will be at Henighans, Bury Road, from 9pm on Saturday. Tickets cost £6.
