The next guest artist at The Barlow, on Friday, February 17, is the phenomenal Bernard Wrigley. He has been a great friend to the club and we are delighted to welcome him back. If, by some miracle you have never seen him before, as well as performing at concerts and folk clubs, he loves the varied nature of entertainment.

He is a vastly talented singer, a very accomplished guitarist and concertina player and an extremely funny man.

For those of you who want to learn and develop clog dancing, over the same weekend, The Lancashire Wallopers host an annual weekend of clog dance instruction at Wellfield School, Leyland, There are dance displays, a music workshop for all instruments and a Saturday night ceilidh, led by the Cock and Bull Band.

On Sunday, Scottish five-piece Breabach appear at The Met in Bury to deliver a thrilling brand of contemporary folk music that has earned them international recognition on the world and roots music scene as one of the UK’s most dynamic and exciting bands.

The band has taken melodic, rhythmic and harmonic ideas from each of the countries they have visited. Some of this is woven into their arrangements, some of this is achieved through self-penned works. Through it all however, their Scottish roots still remain at the core of the recording with work from Burns, Dick Gaughan and Donald Macleod finding its way into the mix.

Three Cane Whale are at The Met on next Thursday. They are a multi-instrumental acoustic trio featuring members of Spiro, Get The Blessing and Scottish Dance Theatre.

Next Friday sees the Jaywalkers at The Met. They have cemented their place as one of the most exciting and entertaining young bands working on the British folk scene taking influence from folk, bluegrass, country and Western Swing.
