THE Manchester ferocious folk foursome are coming to Bury for their 'homecoming' gig as part of their ten year anniversary tour.

4square, who play a fusion of folk, Latin and jazz music, have performed all over the world over the last decade, and are about to embark on their biggest tour yet to celebrate ten years as a band.

Two members of the band, Mike Giverin on mandolin and guitar, and Jim Molyneux on keys, accordion and vocals, hail from Rochdale.

Mike and Jim have both been through the music system in Rochdale and looking forward to their 'homecoming' gig at The Met in Bury, on 29th September.

Despite performing to huge crowds throughout their careers, Mike admits that this show may be a little more intimidating.

He said: "Performing to a local crowd is way more nerve wracking. I would rather play to an audience of 5000 strangers than to 20 people that I know. It is much more nerve wracking playing to family and friends, I don't know why.

"I guess it is strange presenting our stage persona to people who know what we're like in real life.

"We have got a good local following so it'll be nice to see some familiar faces."

4square are a modern folk band, known for taking songs and doing interesting things with them. They perform as a band but Mike says they're more of a live performance than just a music act.

The band have recently released a brand new EP called X in honour of their ten year anniversary. The EP contains five old tracks that have been updated for re-release.

Speaking of their anniversary, Mike said: "It is just nice that we have been able to remain friends for that long and still remain together as a band."
