MY husband and I were at the Trafford Centre with friends and looking for somewhere for our Sunday tea.
The beauty of heading there is all the choice and after deliberating for a while, the green glow of Pesto drew us in.
We asked for a booth and were seated at the front, with a drinks order taken and the huge menus handed over.
There is so much choice. Pesto is basically Italian tapas, with a massive selection of mini dishes to try.
We opted for a bit of garlic bread to start (£2.45), lovely soft yet crunchy ciabatta, with a nice garlic topping.
That was soon polished off !
The starters are mainly bread-type options but Pesto is all about the mains.
We had struggled to choose but eventually went for four dishes each, we couldn’t narrow it down any further!
The food came quickly and all together, a good start.
I tucked into spaghetti bolognese, potatoes with spicy sauce, fish cakes and chicken skewers, all delicious!
With my husband sharing the spuds and fish and me having some of his meatballs and spicy sausage dish—meaning we could try even more.
The other meals on our table included mini pizzas and risotto.
The portions were a good size, going cold quite quickly, but everyone declared the meal scrumptious and the food didn’t last long.
We struggled to finish everything off, we’d gone for too much, but everything on the menu sounded so good.
The dishes all cost £3 or £4, with vegetables, meat, seafood, pasta, salad and pizzas, on offer — a great selection.
We were offered coffees or desserts but were far too stuffed to consider them.
I can’t imagine many people get to a third course at Pesto, unless you’re very restrained during your main meal. We washed it all down with more drinks.
The service was good, we had a friendly waiter, the food was quick and all the main dishes came at once.
It was quite quiet in a large restaurant but the Trafford Centre in general was not heaving, it was a nice relaxed atmosphere — it was Sunday after all. The bill came to less than £80 for four, great value for money.
