A TREATMENT with a difference uses Japanese massage techniques, reflexology and acupressure to give a natural facelift.

Holistic massage therapist Angela Dean, who lives in Kearsley, uses facial rejuvenation massage to reinvigorate the facial muscles.

Facial expressions, stress and modern life contribute to skin ageing, as the muscles in the face lose tone and elasticity, causing sagging.

The mother-of-three said: “It uses Japanese face massage and Indian face massage.

“It gives you acupuncture of the face without the needles.

“There’s no products used, it’s just the massage that does the work.

“The muscles of our face and skull are attached. If you get a headache, it affects your facial muscles. If you get eye strain, it affects your skull.

“It works on all the muscle structures.

“It’s a natural facelift without the surgery. Because the work penetrates the deepest layers of the skin, it plumps up from within as well as it being a holistic treatment.

“It works on all the Meridian points, there are hundreds of them in the body. They run through your body in lines. It ripples through so your whole body gets the treatment.”

The hour-long treatment sees Angela gently massage the face, as well as working on acupressure points at the base of the skull and massaging the skull so cranial fluid can circulate properly.

The 42-year-old says the facial can help people who suffer from sinus and ear problems, as well as coughs and colds, and smokers who have lines around the mouth.

She also has a client who suffers from the facial paralysis condition Bell's palsy and says regular treatments have been of benefit to the muscles.

Angela, who carries out appointments at home, as well as the Inner Light Wellbeing Centre, Bury Old Road, Prestwich, said: “It helps remove toxins from the face, prevent and reduce wrinkles, strengthen and tones the facial muscles, increases blood circulation and helps relieve stress and trauma locked in the muscles.

“To retrain your facial muscles, you need to have a few close together.

“Then you can have one a month so you can remind the muscles where to stay.”

The treatment usually costs £33 each but Angela is offering four for £100, call 07872 515 365.

Therapy for body and mind

■ Not only does this treatment benefit the face in a way similar to other more conventional facials, it is also fantastic for body and mind.

■ Angela describes her facial rejuvenation massage as a completely natural facelift and just one treatment does seem to plump up the skin, as well as leaving you feeling relaxed and clear-headed.

■ Refloxology is a system of massage used to relieve tension, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands and head, linked to every part of the body which is why the treatment relaxes the whole body.

■ Some of the techniques feel a little odd, such as pulling gently on your ears but this is done to open up the sinus channels.

■ After Angela had worked her magic, I certainly felt as if my skin was plumper, rejuvenated and brighter, and the stresses and strains locked inside my facial muscles — which I had not even realised were there — had melted away.
