SIX years after being on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Lynn Meadowcroft is a great believer in finding balance between mind, body and spirit.

The 55-year-old is throwing open the doors of her holistic and well being centre next weekend to give people the chance to try out taster sessions to feel good both inside and out.

People can visit Time Out For U, St Edmund Street, between noon and 5pm on Saturday, July 26, where a range of 30 minute treatments will be on offer for £10, including face, neck and shoulder massage, Reiki and reflexology.

The mother-of-two, who lives in Belmont, said: “We offer a wide range of different things for the mind, body and spirit.

“It’s a combination of the three.

“If your body is in shape but your mind isn’t, you’re still going to have problems.

“If you get the balance right between all three, you feel fantastic.”

Lynn was working for a voluntary organisation, which dealt with families and young children, when she encountered problems with another a member of staff and management.

She said: “Just over six years ago, I almost had a nervous breakdown.

“It was work-related stress. I started looking at alternative therapies because I didn’t want to go on anti-depressants.

“I discovered the Reiki, I had already trained in massage.

“I started having regular Reiki sessions and I found it really helpful. It completely relaxed and de-stressed me. I just feel calmer.”

The centre also offers other treatments including Swedish massage, aromatherapy, Angelic Usui Reiki, Indian head massage, Shamanic healing, yoga, as well as a therapist who comes in to do facials and a nutritionist.

From next month, Lynn will start to do two open days a month, beginning with August 9 and 30 so people can find out more about the alternative treatments and therapies.

She is also a Heal Your Life teacher who holds workshops to help people improve areas of their life.
She said: “The workshops can be quite emotional because, for the first time, these people can actually see that they have the power to make the changes they need to make their lives better.

“It’s hard to put it in a nutshell.

“I’ve had people in the workshops who have suffered sexual abuse and I’ve had people who just feel worthless. What it’s done is made them realise that nothing was their fault, they are not to blame.”
