A YOUNG and talented cast is hard at work perfecting their electrifying dance moves and hand jives for a show which starts tomorrow.

Tickets are being snapped up for BCMCS’ production of Grease, being staged at the Albert Halls from Tuesday until Saturday.

Neville Grady, BCMCS general secretary, said: “We started advertising the show way back in February when there was a sing-a-long Grease on at the Albert Halls.

“Almost immediately with that, advertising and leaflets and a pop-up banner, tickets started selling.”
The Friday night and Saturday performances have sold out and about 40 tickets are left for others.

Neville said: “The rehearsals are going extremely well.

“The cast is a young cast, full of enthusiasm.

“We are including in the show, all the music that is in the film but not in the stage show. All the popular ones.

“It’s going extremely well. I was down at rehearsals on Sunday afternoon, it’s going to be a brilliant show.

“The producer, Christian Brabin, has really got the cast enthused.”

The musical will feature Barry Gibb’s film opening song Grease, as well as other popular tracks including You’re The One That I Want, Summer Nights, Sandy, Greased Lightnin' and Hopelessly Devoted to You, which was nominated for Best Original Song at the 1978 Oscars.

Grease was voted number one on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Musicals and is the highest grossing movie musical of all time, making major stars out of John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.

In BCMCS’ version, Danny will be played by Dean Simons and Sandy by Katy Clayton.

Grease, by BCMCS, is on at the Albert Halls from tomorrow until Saturday. Call 01204 334400 for details and tickets.
