PEOPLE have until Saturday to enjoy a production of The Pirates of Penzance in Leigh.
Members of The Three Towns Operatic Society are performing the much-loved Gilbert & Sullivan comedy at St Joseph’s Hall, Chapel Street.
It tells the story of Frederic, a child apprenticed to a band of tender-hearted, orphaned pirates by his nurse who, being hard of hearing, had mistaken her master's instructions to apprentice the boy to a pilot.
Frederic, upon completing his 21st year, rejoices that he has fulfilled his duties and is now free to return to society.
But it turns out that he was born on February 29, in a leap year, and he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his actual 21st birthday.
The show features classic numbers such as The Pirate King, I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General and Poor Wandering One.
Tickets cost £11 and £13, concessions available. Call 01942 883722.
