FROM sound effects to producing a full show, a theatre group member is taking the helm of its latest production.

Emily Sung has been behind the scenes at St Vincent’s A.D.S. for a number of years and is producing her first show there — I'll Get My Man.

The farce, written by Philip King, is on at St Vincent’s Church Hall, Rutherford Drive, until Saturday.

Emily, who lives in Westhoughton, attends the group with husband Martin, who looks after the lighting, and her parents have been involved in the theatre for a number of years.

She is also a long-term member of Duckenfield AODS and studied dramatic arts at university.

Howard Clare, St Vincent’s A.D.S. chairman, said: "After being with the society for a few years, she asked if she could produce a play.

"As St Vincent's always encourages new talent and are aware that young people are the future of the Bolton amateur societies, we agreed and are very pleased with the way things have gone.

"Rehearsals have gone very well and we had our first night last night — the audience loved it and we're hoping for a successful week."

I'll Get My Man tells of the story of Peter Graham, a TV series hero who seeks refuge at a country rectory, with his mild clerical uncle Humphrey, from all the women who continually chase after him — in particular Pixie Potter.

Humphrey, horrified by the threatened loss of his housekeeper who has been dismissed by his formidable sister, advertises for a wife but absent-mindedly omits the word "marriage".

The peace of the village is shattered as answers to the advertisement pour in and the arrival of the dignified Bishop of Lax adds to the confusion.

Peter finds the vicarage is no refuge from Pixie Potter and even more hectic than the outside world.

I'll Get My Man is on at St Vincent’s Church Hall, Rutherford Drive, Over Hulton, each evening until Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5.
