HISTORY came to life in Smithills Hall when Bolton Historical Association had an Elizabethan evening.
Authenticity was the keynote — even to the mulled wine served to guests in the outset.
The picture shows a pavane with girls from Bolton School dancing with the accompaniment of Philip Winston, playing cello, and John Holden, playing guitar.
The evening included scenes from the Merry Wives of Windsor from the Little Theatre production earlier in the year. Music included madrigals and lute solos.
The chairman, Mr William Brown, said that they had decided to hold the evening because of the success of a Victorian evening the year before.
