A WHODUNNIT with a comic twist is coming to Great Lever next week.

The company of St Simon and St Jude’s ADS are being transformed into a colourful cast of confusing characters in their latest production.

Starting on Wednesday, Inspector Drake’s Last Case is a classic murder mystery and the first play by English playwright and amateur dramatics favourite David Tristram.

The ‘ultimate’ spoof of the classic Agatha Christie crime dramas, it features characters including Guest the butler, Cook the gardener, Gardner the cook, Butler the guest and another butler called Shofer.

For the production, the team in Great Lever have also decided to try out a signed performance to make the shows more inclusive for those with hearing difficulties.

Committee member Stella Crank said: “An approved performance signer has kindly volunteered to help and we are led to believe that we may be the first amateur society in Bolton to go along this route.

“We would love to gain some support from the hearing impaired theatre goers of Bolton, with a view to having other signed performances in the future.

“If it works and people are happy with it we will take it further in the future with the possibility of making more facilities user-friendly for hearing impaired theatre goers.

“The rehearsals for the show are going well and we are ready and eager to put it on next week.”

The show is family friendly and will see Tony Meeham take on the role of the titular character as strange events unfold one dark evening at the home of Mrs Gagarin.

A scream and a gunshot lead everyone to believe there has been a murder but can it all believed, and is the deceased really even dead?

All questions to be answered in the show which runs until next Saturday at St Simon and Jude’s School, in Newport Road, Great Lever.

Tickets cost £7, with £6 for concessions and £5 for students. To book call 01204 520232 or 01204 385567.
