WITH two theatres and a gallery, The Lowry is one of Greater Manchester's biggest venues.
And now audiences can get behind the scenes for a special Open Day this Saturday.
From 10am to 4pm, the Salford Quays venue will be running free activities to enable visitors of all ages to explore it in a completely new way.
There will be backstage tours and workshops in stage make-up, lighting and sound as well as stand-up comedy, beatboxing and stage combat, a makers market, pop-up LS Lowry archive and live circus performance.
There are also opportunities to get involved in performance related workshops from Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Opera North and Rambert.
All activities and events are free but visitors will need to book places on the workshops in advance.
Tall Stories’ magical musical adaption of Room on the Broom is also ending its UK tour at The Lowry this month, running until August 27.
Adapted from the spellbinding picture book, the Olivier Award nominated production tells the story of a friendly witch, her cat and three loveable animals who take to the skies on a broom and face a fearsome dragon.
With enchanting puppetry, original sing-a-long songs and scary fun, it is suitable for families with children aged three and up.
