A BOLTONIAN is returning home for her most nerve wrecking show yet after showing off her skills on the international stage.

Talented dancer Olivia Edginton will be performing in front of family, friends and nearly 300 strangers tonight at The Lowry.

One of the newest members of the highly acclaimed Candoco Dance Company, she joins its cast of disabled and non-disabled dancers to premiere Face In at 8pm, the newest work of award-winning choreographer Yasmeen Godder.

The 23-year-old from Edgworth said: “I really enjoy touring and performing internationally but I’m really nervous about the show because I’ve got so many faces in the audience that I know.

“They have come along to support me and I want to make them proud.

“I’ve always danced, I don’t remember I time when I wasn’t.

“Last time I danced at the Lowry was at age 14 so I’m really looking forward to it and showing the other company members from all over the world what Manchester is all about!”

The show will be the first time she has performed in Manchester seven years.

The former Canon Slade pupil, whose family still live in Edgworth, trained both at the school under Laura McElroy and in out-of-school classes.

She adds: “She really saw something in me and was a big support and still is.”

After leaving school aged 18, Olivia moved down to London to train at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and graduated with a BA and later an MA.

She has also produced her own solo work, performed at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, as well as dancing in Switzerland, Norway, Finland and Ireland.

Joining Candoco six months ago, Olivia and the company have helped devise the new contemporary dance piece performed to urban indie score.

Next March she joins the company in South Korea where it is performing as part of the Winter Cultural Olympiad.
