THE curtain comes up quite literally on Tyldesley Little Theatre’s next production.

In just over a week's time the company will stage Curtain Up!, a British stage comedy by Peter Quilter.

The play tells the story of five women all inherit equal shares in old, dilapidated theatre and try to bring back to 'life again'.

The play by is described as a 'fast-paced and very funny comedy with five great roles for women'.

Matt Walshaw current director at the company said: "Leading the way in this project is the enthusiastic Theresa, played by Cat Hughes, who wants to turn the theatre into something better.

"Her mother Pam, played by Joan Rogers, wants absolutely nothing to do with the place and her mood doesn’t improve when her deceased ex-husbands lover Jackie, played by Gemma Manfredi, arrives on the scene.

"Aided by Theresa’s comical Grandmother Betty, played by Margaret Speakes, and her late father’s Secretary Sharon, played by Andrea Peters, the group set off on a journey to restoring the Theatre to its former glory."

He added: "Audience members can expect a lot of laughs, eyes down for bingo, a spot of keep fit and not forgetting an international singing star."

The play runs at Tyldesley Little Theatre, Lemon Street, Tyldesley, from Tuesday March 20th until Saturday March 24th.
