YES, it was cold outside, but the temperature in the Echo Arena was hot as the Holiday On Ice team amazed the audience with yet another superb show.

The show is split into nine sections, one of which was a flying silk act which was full of athleticism, grace and strength.

But we were there for the skating and the show began with the haunting ‘Awakening’, signifying the slow wakening of the day.

In ‘Creation’ we were treated to a little of the Irish reels. (Now there’s an idea…. Riverdance on Ice) We are transported across the continents to Africa for ‘Solstice’ and the colourful ‘Tranquility’ with the singing frogs was a delight to behold.

Then across to China for the ‘Red Dynasty’.

For this we had kite flying, masked skaters and martial arts and the strong vibrant red colours which really stood out in the lights.

During the first half, special guest Kyran Bracken from ‘Dancing On Ice’ skated to ‘My Heart Will Go On’, proving yet again what a champion skater he has become. With an emotional routine.

The second half began in America for ‘Urban Revolution’.

The Ensemble turned in great performances with their take on street dancing, and Kyran returned with his ‘robotic dancing’ which thoroughly entertained us all.

Native Americans were paid homage to in ‘Eagle Rock’ and all was set for the finale.

All that had gone before led up to ‘Final Illumination’, which was as spectacular as it sounds with the whole crew skating up a storm with illuminated costumes which reminded us all that Christmas was only a few weeks ago.

I have used the word ‘spectacular’ already, but that is really the only word for this show.

Wonderful costumes, effective lighting and excellent skating.

Really…. What more could you ask for?
