The Voyages of Sinbad The Sailor

St Joseph's Players, St Joseph’s Hall, Chapel Street, Leigh

IT is that time of year again when local societies have been working hard to present their annual pantomime and St Joseph's Players' is no exception.

Written and directed by society stalwart Doreen Johnson, this pantomime has a family feel to it that spills from the footlights into the near capacity audience.

Keith Hindley brings to life the character of the traditional pantomime dame — Nigella (The Ship's Cook) with aplomb.

Keith has excellent comic timing and has just the right idea of what a pantomime dame should be.

With experienced principle boy Clare Nash taking the title role of Sinbad the Sailor they head up a cast whose enthusiasm makes for a very enjoyable evening's entertainment.

We were treated to some excellent vocals from an array of aspiring young female singers whose voices added substance to the performance and show a great deal of promise for the future.

A chorus line of mature dancers accompanied by an excellent children’s chorus, who filled the stage, brought the musical numbers to life.

The Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor runs until Saturday.
