A SELECTION of films from this year’s London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival will be shown at the Cornerhouse, in Manchester, next month as part of the British Film Institute’s annual touring festival.
On August 3 the tour opens with The Fish Child, in which ¡Viva! Spanish film festival favourite Inés Efron stars as Lala, a teenager from an exclusive suburb of Buenos Aires who is in love with Ailin, the family’s young maid.
The two women dream of an idyllic future together near Lake Ypoá, a mystical place from Ailin’s childhood, but a horrific crime brings their dream closer than they’d imagined possible.
Then on August 8 the Cornerhouse will screen the fast-paced, raunchy comedy And Then Came Lola that pays homage to modern classic, Run Lola Run.
On Monday August 16 in the French film Donne-moi la main, or Give Me Your Hand, in which handsome twins, Antoine and Quentin, travel from France to Spain to attend a funeral and soon learn some hard lessons about life, and each other.
And finally, on August 24 they will screen Children of God, in which Johnny, a Bahamian artist, is depressed and creatively uninspired. In search of motivation, he relocates to a rural island where he meets Romeo, a local boy who inspires a new creative drive in him.
The tour has been programmed in association with Manchester Pride 2010. For more information, visit cornerhouse.org.
