A BOLTON operatic society needed help to make a show-stopping dance a pearling success in 1991.
Ladies from St Philips Operatic and Dramatic Society were missing a vital prop for a dance number in Guys and Dolls — pop it pearls.
Nora Howcroft, the show's producer, hunted high and low for the peals which were popular in the 1960s.
She said: "There are none to be found anywhere but I am sure there must be some local people who have these things in an attic or hidden away somewhere."
The pearls, which snap into each other, were ideal for the song Take Back Your Mink when the ladies strip down to basques, throwing away their mink stoles and jewellery.
Nora added: "This particular scene is quite definitely the highlight of the show. We need as many of these peals as possible."
The musical was staged at St Philips Hall, Bridgeman Street, in February that year.
