A HARWOOD actress has made her TV debut in front of millions as she joins the cast of Coronation Street.

Eve Gordon was one of the newest face in the Corrie line-up when she starred alongside Bolton comic Paddy McGuinness on the soap last week.

The 21-year-old took on the role of Caitlin Ryan, the 16-year-old daughter of Dougie Ryan, played by the Take Me Out in the special series of episodes set during a camping trip.

It is Eve's first major TV role and, as well as working with some of TV's most famous faces, she also had a kissing scene to film with Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker - which is not an easy task when one of your co-stars is Paddy McGuinness.

"Paddy being Paddy liked to be funny about it and purposely messed up a couple of times so we had to do it again and again," she laughed.

"I think we had to do about six times in the end.

"He is lovely to work with, just so funny and relaxed around you, so you feel really relaxed as well.

"When we first met I went up to him and said 'Dad it's you!' and he joked that he saw himself as more of a brother figure. He was just really nice and encouraging."

A pupil at Bury Church of England High School, Eve was keen to get into acting at an early age and was an active member of the Octagon Youth Theatre group for eight years.

After high school, she studied drama and theatre at Bury College before going on to train at Bolton's Stirling Academy on Halliwell Road.

She was only on the Academy's agency books for a few months when the part in Coronation Street popped up.

Deciding she was perfect person for the role, her managers put Eve forward and she started auditioning in June.

After two auditions, including one in Media City where she was screen-tested with Colson, the Academy got the call offering her the part.

Eve said."It's never been my intention to be well known, I can't think of myself as someone like that. I was still balancing acting and a retail job when I went to audition.

"Not everyone is going to like the character or the the story line.

"Caitlin is pretty much similar to 16-year-old me, though i wasn't quite as moody and and gothic.

"She's quite shy but the kind of character that keeps people on edge, you never know when you are going to hit a nerve. She has a feisty side."

Filming started at the end of June and even though Eve didn't get to tread the famed Corrie pebbles, she was thrilled to be part of the soap.

She added: "It was an incredible experience. They are a very down to earth bunch of people who were very welcoming and supportive.

"Even now I still don't think it's fully hit me that I've been in Coronation Street."

With filming wrapped up and the series of episodes going to air last week, Eve does not know if her character will be appearing again in the soap.

In the meantime, she is continuing to work with the academy were she helps to coach 18-year-olds and younger and act as an agent for its rising junior stars.
