A HOST of Bolton stars have made the shortlist of this year's National Television Awards.

Peter Kay, Paddy McGuinness and Vernon Kay all have a chance of picking up the converted accolade as nominations go to the public vote.

The list of nominees was revealed on Tuesday and the winners will be announced at a glitzy celebrity-studded award ceremony in January.

Comedian Peter rounds off the year with two nominations in the same category.

Car Share, the show he co-created with Paul Coleman, has will go up against eight-part BBC Two series Cradle to the Grave for the Comedy award.

The six-episode run of Car Share proved to a huge hit for Peter and the BBC as the biggest sitcom to premiere on any television channel since 2011.

More than 6.85 million viewers tuned in for the opening episode, with another 2.5 million watching the show on the BBC iPlayer.

Meanwhile, Cradle to the Grave saw Peter drop his Bolton accent for cockney in the adaptation of comedy writer and radio DJ Danny Baker's autobiography, Going To Sea In a Sieve.

Bolton's other stars, Vernon and Paddy, are battling it out for the TV Presenter award while their shows — All Star Family Fortunes and Take Me Out — are both nominated for the best Entertainment Programme.
