THE Jade Assembly have their eyes on a bright future this year.

The Bolton band has been beavering away on a series of new songs and getting themselves booked in for a line-up of gigs this summer.

While the indie-rockers have been building up fans around the UK, they return to Bolton this weekend to headline a big annual concert.

The four-piece join some of the best up and coming bands in the region for May Day Calling at Blind Tiger on Sunday.

It is a chance for fans to catch the group, made up of John – Foz –Foster on guitar and lead vocals, Gareth – Smed – Semdley on lead guitar, Daniel – Danny – Hayes on Bass and Andy – Watson – Watson on drums, in their hometown as they bring some new music to the stage.

Foz said: "This will be our first big Bolton show this year.

"We always like playing in our home town. We are really looking forward to it, there are some great bands on.

"It's a great night for everyone. We massively proud that we are from Bolton and obviously there's going to a a good night at the Blind Tiger."

The group was founded in 2008 and has been performing in its current form for four years.

Most recently they have took a sojourn down to Wolverhampton to record new music with the help of producer Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Recording Studio.

New songs include Here and Beyond and Got My Star, due to be released later this year.

Foz adds: "We were looking for someone who really loved our sound and Gavin said we had been on his radar for a while and really wanted to record with us so we went for a long weekend.

"I'm more happy with the sound than I have ever been, it's just right. We wanted something that sounded like it was live, to keep that rawness but also have it crisp, and Gavin helped us find that.

"It is going to be a busy summer, we are already announced for Blackthorn Festival in July where we will be playing the main stage on Saturday night and have others we can't announce yet.

"Our music is really starting to take off now outside of Bolton. We want to be professional musicians, tour the country and Europe. This is what we have been striving towards.

"Making a jump to the next level has been the hardest step, but I feel we are on the cusp of becoming professional right now."

The Jade Assembly join Kashmere, No Hot Ashes, Sly Antics, Twisted Dolls, Cabezudos, Maruja and Carnival Club at Blind Tiger in Bolton on Sunday.

the event is hosted in partnership with Indie Rocks UK and following the bands will be a set by Indie Rocks DJ Paul Holmes till 4am.

Entry is £4 for the day.
