BOLTON actor Paul Nicholls will be starring in Channel 4’s new school drama Ackley Bridge.
Set to begin in June, the six-part series, which has been likened to BBC’s Waterloo Road, features Mr Nicholls as PE teacher Steve Bell, who works in what is described as a multi-cultural academy school.
The former Eastenders star has previously described the character as “a kid himself inside” who has a bit of a temper on him.
Part of the storyline focuses on the relationship between Steve and his wife Mandy Carter, played by Jo Joyner, who is headteacher.
The school is set in the fictional Yorkshire mill town of Ackley Bridge.
The series will begin its run on Wednesday, June 7.
