DAMES and directors shoes are being filled by new talent for a tale as old as time.

After being brought back to life by Disney, now Tyldesley Little Theatre is putting on its own story of Beauty and the Beast.

It is the society's 27th pantomime production but will feature a host of new faces and well-known ones taking on new roles.

Carly Lomax is going from leading lad to leading the action for the eight performance show.

She said: "I am directing this year, filling large shoes so I have a keen interest in making sure our community get the panto they deserve and aren't disappointed.

"My family used to take us every year since I was little to the pantomime.

"I'm normally principle boy and this year the director decided to have a break from the society and my name was put forward, which is quite terrifying.

"Because I have the experience of being on stage, I feel like I know what can go wrong and what it's like to perform but am an a bit jealous of everyone else! I am doing a quick cameo though!"

Starting on November 25, Carly is leading a cast of enthusiastic and dedicated actors and is keen to offer an evening of 'fresh, funky fun'.

Panto favourites Joyce Elder and Ingrid Folkard Evans join newcomers like Cameron Rowe and Sally Mason while Connor Rankinson takes on the role of Dame for the first time.

Carly, who has been with Tyldesley for six years, added: "It is going really, really well and we are just two weeks shy of the show now. They are on with acting, sing and we are almost there with the technical! It is a classic pantomime with all the jokes.

"I have really enjoyed producing it and it's been lovely seeing lots of new faces and talent.

"We have seven people who are brilliant singers bring a new vibe to the theatre and there will be lots of modern songs and jokes."

The production will run on November 25, 28, 29 and December 1 and 2, at 7.30pm, and on November 25, 26 and December 2, at 2.30pm, at the Lemon Street theatre in Tyldesley.
