EAGLE-EYED viewers may spot some very familiar locations in a new drama hitting the screen next week.

Dark four-part drama Bancroft stars Sarah Parish take the leading-lady spot as a tortured detective on ITV for four consecutive nights from Monday.

Bolton is just one a few locations around the North Wets which provided a backdrop for the thriller.

Shoppers and visitors to the town centre in March would have seen the Broadchurch actress filming in Le Mans Crescent outside the courts and near the arches over two days.

In the run up to the premiere Parish has talked fondly of how most of the filming took place in Bolton, Rochdale and surrounding areas.

It was a welcome return to the North West for the star who spent years working in the region while playing a hairdresser in BBC One drama Cutting It.

She said: “I got a flat in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, very near where I used to live the last time I was working there.

“So that was quite nostalgic and brought back a lot of memories.”

The 49-year-old plays “ruthless and courageous” detective Elizabeth Bancroft in the drama written and created by Kate Brooke.

It follows Elizabeth’s operation to bring down the vicious Kamara gang and as a young policewoman 27 years ago as an unsolved murder case reveals secrets from the past she would rather forget.
