A SINGER-songwriter from Leigh is hoping to hit all the right notes in the final of a national competition on Saturday.
Zoe Unsworth, of Pownall Street, will be competing in the Open Mic UK competition at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham for the chance to win an album deal, have a music video made for one of her songs and time with a top producer in a recording studio.
The 18-year-old will perform her new single 24/7 in front of a live audience in a bid to impress a panel of judges that includes vocal coach CeCe Sammy and singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer Dane Bowers. She is one of 20 singers to have made it to the final of the 16 to 20 years age category.
Zoe, a former Bedford High School pupil, said: “I am so excited to be in the final and it would mean so much to
win it and be recognised in such a good national competition.
“I am performing an original song of my own so I hope the judges are able to see my work as a writer as well as a vocalist.”
Text message votes and the judges’ opinions will decide the winners of each age category.
More than 9,000 people entered the national singing competition.
Zoe finished in the top four in the 2016 Unsigned Music Awards out of thousands of entries.
