BOLTON College is inviting members of the public to come and view some of the works of art created by its students.

The college, soon to be merged with the University of Bolton, will hold its annual Arts Showcase on Deane Road from Thursday, June 7.

The opening ceremony and awards, which are invitation only, take place the day before, on Wednesday June 6.

Special judges include Tony Bridge from Bolton FM, designer Tom Sutton from the University of Bolton, NEO Artists and Bob Frith, the director of the Horse + Bamboo puppet theatre.

The judges will view the work of the college’s art and design level 2 and 3 learners whose pieces are based on the theme of either ‘Points of View’ or ‘Cityscape’.

Students are also creating cultural adornments and puppets, whilst some will submit their best artwork from the current academic year.

Entertainment will include musicians and dance, stalls exhibiting media make-up, hair, beauty and nail art, as well as live art including furniture restoration and graffiti art.

All proceeds made from the stalls will be donated to Emmaus, a local homeless charity.

The exhibition is open to members of the public until Friday, June 15, so anyone viewing the exhibition art do not need to book but to turn up at the main Bolton College campus on Deane Road.

Nicola Karwat, creative services lecturer at Bolton College, said, “Each year our arts showcase just gets bigger and better and this year will be no different."
