A MAN was taken to hospital with a fractured ankle after he was knocked off his motorbike in Middlebrook Retail Park this morning.

The man, who is in his 20s and worked for McDonald's in the retail park, was on his way into work when he collided with a silver Vauxhall Corsa at about 11.45am.

It was a low-speed collision and the motorcyclist has been taken to Royal Bolton Hospital with a fracture to his left ankle, but his injuries are not serious. 

The driver of the Vauxhall did not suffer any injuries.

The road outside McDonalds was closed until 12.40pm while the motorcylist received treatment.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We got a call at 11.46am to a road traffic collison between a car and a motorcycle.

"A male in his 20's has been taken to Royal Bolton Hospital with an ankle injury.

"It was a low-speed collision."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We got the call at 11.50am. 

"The cyclist suffered a fractured leg, but his injuries are not life-changing.

"The road outside McDonalds was re-opened at 12.40am."

McDonalds in Middlebrook confirmed the man worked at their restaurant.

A member of staff said: "He was on his way to work and a car knocked into him.

"He's not badly hurt as far as I can tell."
