EASTER came early at Anderton Primary School — after pupils watched these beautiful chicks hatch.

Reception and Key Stage One pupils have been looking at the lifecycle of a chick as part of a school topic.

The children have watched 14 chicks hatch since last week and have had fun naming their new furry friends.

Year One teacher Sarah Brady said: "Anderton have been having chicks for a number of years as it links in to the topics of growing and change in Reception and Key Stage One.

"The children have really enjoyed watching the chicks hatch, holding them and naming them.

"The Reception children named four of the chicks, Daisy, Elsa, Caption America and Bob, Year One named four of the chicks - Flash, Tom, Roise and Rainbow and Year Two named the last chick Count Quackula.

"We still have one egg that is 'pipping' and yet to hatch.

"They have been keeping chick diaries about their observations, that they have made every day, in relation to the eggs and then them hatching and to how the chicks are growing and have also looked at the lifecycle of a chick.".
