Ward evacuated at Royal Bolton Hospital after patient sets mattress on fire
A WARD had to be evacuated at the Royal Bolton Hospital after a patient set a mattress on fire.
The mental health ward had to be cleared at 3pm for about 45 minutes as staff dealt with the incident, with a fire crew from Farnworth fire station called out.
The flames did not take hold because of specialist mattresses which prevent them from spreading.
The incident did not affect any other wards.
