A KIDS club's plan to build play areas on an adjacent strip of land has been approved.

Westhoughton Kids Club was given the go-ahead to build three hard and soft play areas next to its base in Acorn House, Dams Head Fold.

They will be built on a narrow strip of land to the north east of the building and would have a 2.4m-high fence around it to safeguard the children.

There had been previous concerns about safety and about noise affecting residents who live across the road from the site.

But during Bolton Council's planning committee meeting at the town hall on Thursday, members described it as a 'much-needed facility' for the children in Westhoughton, and the committee voted to approve the plan.
