HALF-term fun will in abundance throughout Bolton this week.

There will be plenty to keep young ones and their parents happily occupied .

The week kicks-off today at Bolton Central Library where children can celebrate the coming spring season through games, including planting a pot of spring onions to take home, grow and eat . The activity runs from 2pm until 3pm.

Tomorrow after youngsters can watch the creatures of the deep being fed and find out more about Bolton Aquarium's freshwater fish collection from 1pm. The event will also run on Thursday at the same time.

Cinema at the Crescent will show the family film Big Hero 6 on Wednesday at 2pm. Film buffs under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. The cinema is located in the lecture theatre at Bolton Library.

There will be plenty of animal at magic at Hall i'th' Wood tomorrow from noon until 1.30pm where little ones can take take part in an animal themed trail around the museum followed by a craft activity.

Sporty youngsters can enjoy the thrill of the Winter Olympics all week at Farnworth Library with special sessions from 9am to when it closes.

It will be competition time on tomorrow at High Street Library from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, where children can win prizes for their stories, and completing fun puzzles. And on Thursday children can enjoy a storytime session as they listen to Rainbow Fish being read out before they create their own shimmering fish to take home. The activity starts at 2pm at the same library.

Westhoughton Library will be celebrating the Year of the Dog tomorrow as visitors mark the start of the Chinese New Year. Children can create their own paper dog to take home.

Creative youngsters can make their own puppet at Blackrod Library on Thursday from 11am to 2pm.

There will a family film screening of The Jungle Book at Breightmet Library on Thursday at 2pm.

Children can enjoy an afternoon of storytelling at the Octagon Theatre, where little ones will be transported on a literary journey of fun and adventure – meeting all of their favourite characters in Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. The week will end with more new year celebrations at Bromley Cross Library on Saturday between 10am to noon by creating a dog with moveable body to create the illusion that it can walk.

Children can unleash their inner-superhero at the Market Place Shopping Centre

The centre is staging six days of free superhero themed fun for everyone, from today to Saturday 24th February.

The event will take place on the ground floor mall and will be run by a team of superheroes against an awesome skyscraper backdrop.

On arrival at the event, children will undergo their transformations — with the opportunity to dress up as some of their favourite characters for the day in a Superman-style phone box.

Today there will be face painting, mask making on Tuesday, superhero food on Wednesday and Thursday the look will be complete with a shield and sword.

Young superheroes will graduate on Friday with a certificate and their new name — while Saturday will be a day of celebration. Super-kids will be able to pose against the city skyline, demonstrating their strength lifting some seriously big pretend weights and boulders.
