AN outraged resident has claimed work to create a new track at a deer farm has caused "disruption" to neighbours' lives.

People who live near the farm in Shorefield Mount, Egerton, have complained about the damage caused to the road by the wagons.

The main cause for concern for one resident, Eric Robinson, is the damage to the road and cracks to neighbours' houses, which he claimed had been caused by the work vehicles.

Bolton Council has inspected the site on several occasions and no planning laws had been broken.

Mr Robinson said: "The road is getting worse, and there are many cracks in the pavement too.

"Fifty trucks a day five to six days a week for three months, four months or more. And what of the effect on the underlying main water and sewerage pipes?

"The effect on houses nearest to the site — there are cracks appearing internally, and when the diggers start at 8am it is like a mini earthquake. This is of a mightily serious concern.

"This is causing complete disruption of our lives here on Shorefield Mount, and not for just a few weeks."

Cllr David Greenhalgh, who represents the Bromley Cross ward, said: "From my point of view, the main issue to me is that the road is made good — that Shorefield Mount is returned to how it was.

"And if any houses have been damaged or cracks have appeared then compensation should be paid out where appropriate."

He said the tenant and owners at the deer farm had been "very forthcoming and helpful" in co-operating and had hired a road cleaner to clear mess on the road.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: “We understand some local residents are frustrated and we have looked into their concerns. We have inspected the site a number of times and found that there has not been any breach of planning control.

“The highways condition is being regularly monitored and the developer is fully aware that any damage as a result of their operations will have to be rectified.

“We will continue to monitor the site regularly.”
