A WOMAN from Bolton is at the centre of a media storm after allegations about her connection to footballer Wayne Rooney were published in national newspapers.

Jennifer Thompson, aged 21, is involved in a number of allegations concerning the Manchester United and England star’s private life.

Paparazzi were yesterday camped outside the home of Miss Thompson’s parents in Heaton as they waited in the hope of catching a glimpse of Miss Thompson or her family.

Her family declined to speak to The Bolton News yesterday.

Miss Thompson last year appeared as a glamour girl at the Blue Square UK Open darts competition at the Reebok.

The brunette, then aged 20, was employed by sponsors Blue Square to promote the event, along with two other girls.

She told The Bolton News at the time that she was cheering for Phil “The Power” Taylor to win the competition.

Rooney, who married wife Colleen on the Italian Riviera in June, 2008, has not commented on the allegations, but it has been suggested that he may withdraw from England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland tomorrow.

He trained with the rest of the squad yesterday, and Manchester City midfielder James Milner insisted it was “business as usual” in the camp.

Rooney is an integral part of England coach Fabio Capello’s team, even though it is now 11 matches since he last scored a goal for his country.

A spokesman for one of Rooney’s sponsors, EA Sports, said: “This is a personal matter and we respect Wayne and his family’s privacy.

“We have worked together for six years and Wayne continues to represent EA Sports.

We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Last November Coleen gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby boy named Kai Wayne.
