A COUNCILLOR has rea-ssured constituents he is still a proud Labour — after being mistakenly labelled as a Tory in Bolton Council ’s own newspaper.

Bolton Scene’s summer edition went to print with Cllr David Evans, a councillor for the Little Lever and Darcy Lever ward, listed as being a Conservative.

The paper, billed as the “council’s main way of telling the public about its services”, is currently delivered free to households across Bolton.

Bolton Council , which publishes Bolton Scene, has since apologised to Cllr Evans and is urging local people to log on to its website to access members’ correct details.

Cllr Evans said: “I had been advised by e-mail from a fellow councillor that I was described in the Bolton Scene newspaper as a Conservative councillor.

“My initial reaction was that it was a practical joke. That is, until I managed to obtain a copy of the newspaper. Obviously I have raised my concerns with the newspaper regarding the lack of editing information.

“This resulted in me receiving a sincere apology, which I am happy to accept.

“I would just like to reassure residents of Little Lever and Darcy Lever, I am a proud Labour councillor.”

He added: “After this experience my motto going forward is to always expect the unexpected.”

A spokesman said that the council had apologised to Cllr Evans and added: “The correct details are published on the council’s website, bolton.gov.uk, on the meet your councillor page.”

Bolton Scene, which contains articles about the council’s aims, is published ten three times per year and is delivered to every household in the borough.
