PASTIE shop owner Marie Walsh is making progress in her recovery from serious illness.
The 70-year-old spent almost a month in hospital in America earlier this year after developing a blood clot in her left leg while visiting family.
She arrived home on May 31 and is now learning to walk again at her home in Deane.
Mrs Walsh, who has run Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe in Churchgate for more than 40 years, said: "I still have an open wound on one side of my left leg, which is dressed every two days, I'm still all wrapped up like a mummy.
"It has to heal by itself and it could be another six weeks.
"I have had to learn to walk again and I'm making progress.
"I thought I'd never walk again but it's surprising what a few weeks does. I am getting around and out and about a bit but need lots of rest.
"I'm taking each day as it comes."
The businesswoman travelled to Jacksonville, Florida, on April 26 to visit her daughter Kay and husband Tommy and their daughters Natasha, aged eight, and Vanessa, three.
