Women’s groups in anti-violence campaign
8:33am Tuesday 27th November 2012 in News
WOMEN’S groups from across Bolton will take part in a series of events in support of an international campaign to eradicate violence against women.
The ‘16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence’ campaign, which runs until December 10, is also being supported by Bolton Council and Bolton at Home.
An exhibition has been organised to raise awareness of the issue.
About 15 women’s groups will decorate pairs of shoes and attach messages of support for victims of gender violence. The shoes are being turned into an exhibit called Take The First Step, which will go on display at the Bolton One Stop Shop and Bolton Library during December.
A networking event for the women’s groups involved in the project is being held on December 10 to celebrate the achievements of the campaign. Bolton groups taking part in the campaign include: Breighmet Library Women’s Group, British Red Cross WISP (Women’s Integration Support Project), Bright Meadows Children’s Centre, Leverhulme Women’s Group, Christine Partington House Women’s Group, Wellfield community Support Group, Targeted Youth Support, Just For Girls, Get Ripped For Girls, Bolton Solidarity Community Association, Access Refugee and Asylum Seekers Women’s Group, SafeHaven – Thank Goodness it’s Friday, Fortalice Women’s Group, Foxes of the Fold, and Johnson Fold.

As for saying these groups are full of feminists and man haters, that is a disgusting thing to say. I hope to God you never have to go through anything like that because with an attitude like yours you will get very little sympathy. You have come across as a male chauvinist pig and a woman hater. Well done!!
Also how many of these groups are funded by the council or lottery? Why do women need all these groups in just one town? Men never have these groups and if they did they would be called sexist. 15 groups most of which have women in their titles. Let me make this clear I am against all domestic violence and the bullies need to be punished however looking at the plethora of groups involved I suspect many are public funded and run by left wing extremists. Hope I am wrong.

I would have thought it actually made me helpful by letting people know there is help for men. I even put the name of the main website to direct them. So can you please let me know what is wrong with this?
Hough 64 seems to be making some irresponsible, ill thought out, irrational deductions from comments placed on here by well meaning members of the public.

Your conclusion that Reality 50 is a woman hater would possibly qualify you as a good candidate for social worker of the year.

While I would support this totally, what about the violence against men? Around 20% of domestic violence is against men. Also it seems much of these kind of groups who campaign against this are feminist or men hating groups. All domestic violence should be eradicated but these campaigners would get more respect if they was against ALL domestic violence rather than being selective.
Its also not just the physical violence that men have to put up with from women , what about the mental abuse that is dished out ? but no man will march or form group events to eradicate this in case of ridicule.
sorry have to go the missus is coming .....
