FORMER Bolton Wanderers star Gary Parkinson — who has been unable to move since suffering a massive stroke — is home in time to celebrate Christmas with his family.

The 44-year-old was left with “locked in syndrome” after suffering the stroke in September 2010 and is only able to communicate by blinking.

He had been receiving round-the-clock care at the Priory High Bank Centre in Summerseat, near Ramsbottom, for the past year, but following special adaptations to his house in Westhoughton has now been able to return home to be with wife Debbie and children Luke, Chloe and Sophie.

Mrs Parkinson told The Bolton News: “We’re over the moon that he’s home and we’re just trying to adjust to it.

“We’re just looking forward to Christmas Day and having all five of us together.
