A FORMER pupil at Radcliffe Riverside High School has died in an industrial accident.
Cameron Minshull, aged 16, suffered a serious head injury just before 10.45am on Tuesday at a factory in Huntley Mount Road, Bury.
It is thought he was injured when he came into contact with a machine.
Cameron, who lived in Unsworth, Bury, was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital but died a short time later.
Greater Manchester Police and the Health and Safety Executive have started a joint investigation into the incident.
Cameron had started working at Zaffar Engineering UK Ltd just a few weeks earlier on an apprenticeship scheme. In a statement, his family said: “We have lost a very precious part of our lives and there are no words that can describe how we are feeling.
“Cameron was a much-loved son, brother, nephew, grandson, great-grandson and a friend to many. He will leave a big hole in many people's hearts.”
Post mortem tests were due to be made yesterday and an inquest will be opened next week.
A spokesman for Zaffar Engineering said the firm was co-operating with the investigation.
He added: “We are deeply very sorry about what happened. Cameron was a popular member of staff.”
