Man badly hurt in explosion (From The Bolton News)

Is this linked to what was going on outside Latino Lounge at 2pm?

Bomb disposal truck outside, man with serious hand injuries in an explosion put the 2 together sounds like someone making a bomb and its gone wrong (for him). And not to mention just before Christmas a middle eastern guy was looking to move into the same house and nobody has seen anything till now. I live on that street so im not stirring crap.

Hmmmm... if you're right then I have no sympathy what so ever!!! No doubt we'll soon find out - thank you.

police have declared the area is safe (road is open) CSI in there now and before the area was declared safe an officer walked out with a white box with no doubt bits of the man's hand or a device of some kind.

yea strange that a police officer came into my house and said stay out of the kitchen and bedroom on the street side of the house but we don't need to evacuate leave the house.

bomb disposal unit called in means it wasn't some bloke fiddling with his gas meter hence no gas vans.

I am sure some have heard of the bomb squad blowing up a paper bag in the street before now.....doesnt mean it was a bomb!!! Lets have some more official news before we scare the whole neibourhood. Isnt it strange that police evacuated the elderly from homes, in the freezing cold, but left those across the road to stay away from the front??

There are lots of dodgy people live in that area. I reckon it was some dummy trying to fiddle the gas. They probably went to Withins school and weren`t shown how to do anything properly!

The latest I've heard is:
"A man was arrested in Bolton on suspicion of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or property following an incident yesterday."

Apparently the guy is from Tonge Moor so wouldnt be registered at the address in Lea Gate.
If it was someone messing in gas, police would have said so that the public aren't worried and it would stop all speculation.
Also, why would the man not try and get help himself rather than trying to run away? It was only after a woman saw blood in the yard and a loud bang before that that she put two and two together and rang the police etc.
So lets be realistic!

It definately wasnt gas. It was a homemade bomb.

I have it "on good authority" (I heard it in the pub) that this guy has got a previous conviction for trying to buy weapons-grade fissile material (depleted uranium I believe, but I may be wrong) from a dodgy Russian website.

And he always carries a machine gun when he walks his dog round Harwood. I've seen him.

A man has been arrested in connection with an explosion at a house in Bolton.

Shortly after 1.20pm on Sunday 13 January 2013, police were called by the North West Ambulance Service, who had received reports a man had suffered serious injury to his hand.

Officers attended and discovered a 26-year-old man had suffered a serious hand injury during an explosion at a house on Lea Gate, Bolton.

A number of neighbouring addresses were evacuated as a precaution while a search of the address was carried out by explosive ordnance disposal experts.

Police also searched two other properties in the Tonge Moor area as part of the investigation.

No explosive items were found at any of the addresses.
The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not life threatening.

He has been arrested on suspicion of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or property and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jackson, said: “I appreciate that given the nature of this incident and the impact it had on those living on Lea Gate there will be some concern among residents, but I want to reiterate that this was an isolated incident and there was not and is not any threat to the wider community.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to this incident and if anyone has any information that can assist I would urge them to get in touch.”

Some details have come to light about the mad bomber.There was a lot of crap thrown around about race ,religion,intentions
,etc.What gets me is the fact that this incedent happened on 13 Jan. but the police are not going to QUIZ the guy till 21Jan.8 days later.Being a cynical person this leads me to suspect 3 things,1 the police want to make a tv quiz show out of this,2 the bomber has to use sign language to communicate,3 some thing more sinister is afoot,is he connected to a terrorist group?
