THERE will be no trains during rush hour tomorrow morning from Piccadilly or Manchester Airport to Bolton, Preston, Blackpool, Cumbria or Scotland after a train derailed in Salford.
Instead, buses will run between the airport, Piccadilly and Bolton.
There will also be limited trains between Manchester Victoria Station and Bolton and Preston.
The train derailed on a section of track between Salford Central and Salford Crescent stations at around 2.45pm after the rear compartment burst into flames. No passengers were on board.
It is understood it was a chartered heritage train traveling from Ardwick in Manchester to Carnforth.
A National Rail spokesman said: "An empty train has become derailed between Salford Crescent and Deansgate.
"Because of this, trains are currently unable to run between Salford Crescent/Eccles and Manchester Piccadilly/Manchester Victoria. There is no current estimate for when a normal service will resume.
“Replacement road transport has been ordered.”
Visit this National Rail Bolton site for service updates.
